This image of Bert Lahr was sourced from the the online archive of The Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. Bert Lahr, born 1895, was an American actor and comedian. Lahr is probably remembered best for his role as the Cowardly Lion in the film The Wizard of Oz (MGM 1939), but was also known for his work in burlesque, vaudeville, and on Broadway. Michael was drawn to the image attracted by ideas of parody and other comic gags.
