Womxn Stage

An exhibition of new sculptures by Alexis Dirks built specifically for the Canadian launch of Semi-Regular, Charismatic Megafauna’s debut album, at aceartinc’s Project Room on until 7 April 2018.

Womxn Stage brings together the work of visual artist Alexis Dirks and UK based drum-hop dance-punk band Charismatic Megafauna. Through costumes, performances, photo shoots, songs, sculptures, and film, their collaboration thinks about how the body can be a site for action and activism; a way to re-imagine models of female representation, and consider the politics of learning in public.

Alexis has made blocky furniture sculptures that are designed to be climbed on and moved around during the exhibition. Visitors to the show can listen to the album and watch a new film that captures the rituals, exercises and practice of Jenny Moore, Georgia Twigg, and Susannah Worth as they become Charismatic Megafauna behind the scenes.
