Still Life (Bothy)
Jamie Johnson is a Glasgow based artist who graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee in 2011.
Jamie works across painting, collage, printmaking and video. His work explores cultural symbolism from both modern and ancient worlds, communicating observations and ideas by creating an autonomous visual language. He creates intricate abstract landscapes that often hint at Scottish geology and folklore.
He has exhibited steadily since graduation and has recently had two solo shows, the most recent at Chopping Block Gallery in London (2018) and prior to that at Glasgow’s SWG3 (2017). He has shown work in the Royal Scottish Academy and Edinburgh City Art Centre where he was awarded the Purcell Paper Prize and the Nancy Graham Artist Book Prize by the Society of Scottish Artists.
Some of the unique works we have for purchase were part of his most recent solo show at Chopping Block Gallery which was an exploration of time spent in a remote Scottish Bothy. Unique works are available as well as a small run of digital editions on archival somerset paper.
